This is chocolate gravy for the adults. And I know how funny that sounds....
I love chocolate gravy - my Mom would make it and drizzle over warm biscuits. Oh my word it's yummy. If you've never experience the bliss chocolate gravy conjures then click right on over to her blog and make it. Now.
A couple nights ago it hit me - I HAD to make chocolate gravy. There was just no option, it must be made. No biscuits? No problem - I whipped up some Drop Biscuits ($5 dinner Mom - super easy, very yummy!) and slide them into the oven.
When the chocolate gravy craving hit so did the idea of 'vamping' the recipe. I halved most ingredients - kept the cocoa the same so it was nice and strong. If making for yourself and the kids, make a full batch using the original recipe then add cinnamon and coffee to your half. :)
Red Eye Chocolate Gravy
- 1/3 cup butter
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 Tablespoons cocoa
- 1 Tablespoons flour
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 4 Tb strong coffee or espresso
- 1/8 tsp cinnamon
- Melt butter in a skillet over a medium heat.
- While butter is melting, mix sugar, flour, cinnamon and cocoa in a small bowl. Whisk into the melted butter.
- Add milk and cook until thick. Right before serving, stir in coffee.
- Drizzle over the warm, fluffy biscuits.... and ENJOY!
