This is a compensated review by BlogHer and Jimmy Dean.
Better Breakfast, Better You. When you read that – what are you thinking? Remind you of New Years goals? I know – we just finished Christmas and I’m mentioning New Years and the looming ‘healthy eating’ goals… but this can lead to many things.I’m working on my New Years goals – trying to think of sensible, practical and beneficial goals. Here’s my list so far:
- Pick a cause or charity & help: Instead of scattering myself in many directions, I would like to choose one charitable focus each year. This is a habit that I can’t wait to share with my kids!
- Enjoy these fleeting months as my baby approaches his first birthday… while planning the first birthday party!
- Take time for me – paint my nails, read a book, a quiet bubble bath.
- Be healthier! Plan balanced meals, make time for exercise, pack healthy lunches.
A major part of being healthier is watching what I eat – and I don’t mean watch food as I put it into my mouth! Hahaha… old joke. I know. I’m sorry.
Moving non-stop as I find balance as a Mom, Wife, Employee, Blogger, Crafter, Friend… my meals lack nutrition and balance as well. So first things first… Breakfast! Running through the door with an oatmeal packet to microwave and eat at my desk is not the best start to my morning; I need some carbs, some protein, something to fill me up and stick with me – may I introduce Jimmy Dean D-Lights! {Visit the Official site }
These are fabulous- I’m very impressed. Microwave and go, I can have a very healthy meal. I’m working to make time in the mornings for exercise (trying to be ‘better me!’); afterwards I’m famished! The Turkey Sausage Reduced Fat Croissant has been a great post-workout breakfast – it’s only 290 calories and has 17 grams of protein. 17!
Another option is the breakfast bowls.
Already packaged in microwave safe bowls, you simply microwave, stir and you’re on your way. To be only 230 calories, the Jimmy Dean Turkey Sausage Breakfast Bowl (my favorite) is made with eggs, potatoes, sausage and cheese.
Of course, I like to change things up a bit you know, and found another way to enjoy the breakfast bowls. Breakfast bowl sandwiches! Add two pieces of high fiber toast and I’m on my way. (I like adding tomato and fresh cilantro.)
So, let’s talk some protein. It’s important you guys. Really important. Protein is energy. Protein is focus. Protein offers vitamins and minerals. And, protein is yummy! And it will help you feel fuller, longer. I have a snacking problem – which has lead to a slight weight problem. Feeling full and having energy will help me reach my ‘healthy’ goals by fighting those snacking temptations.
Now, tell me – how can a Better Breakfast, make a Better You? What are your goals? Let’s talk people!!

I have always liked the Jimmy Dean products. It's too bad Mr. Dean passed away, he was passionate about his sausage.

Hello my fellow Kristen!
I plan to drink less sugary drinks.
My guiding phrase for 2011 is "do what matters most", meaning I will put my time and effort into those things that truly matter to me and to our family. Keeping in touch with the people I love. Planting a garden so we eat fresh vegetables more often. Finding time to make quilts for our home. The things that enrich our lives will have priority.

I'm going to be getting back in shape after my 2nd baby (due any day now!!!). I plan to focus on incorporating whole foods and gradually increasing to a more intense workout routine. I would love to do a race or some other fitness event before the end of the year.
i'm going to drink more water and eat less sugar
One of my goals is to eat more fruit and less candy!
My new resolution is to up my trips to the gym from 2 a week to 3 times a week. And to hold myself to "making up" missed gym trips with videos at home.
catherine(dot)alley(at)gmail(dot)com
I have resolved to actually eat breakfast in the morning. Usually I just run out of the house and don’t even think about it. So by mid-morning, I am starving and I have to go the vending machine to get something to snack on. So by eating a healthy breakfast every day, I should be able to curb all of the snacking that I do.
I have got to start exercising and taking some quiet time for myself.
I want to: drink more water, exercise regularly, slow down and enjoy the little things.
This year I want to get healthier by gradually increasing my daily exercises as well as increasing the amount of protein I eat.

I am going to try to be more physically active, esp. during the winter months. I notice as I age, I have less stamina. I always need to drink more water!!
I'm focusing on being more relaxed and less stressed by doing daily deep breathing and relaxation exercises. When I feel relaxed and balanced, I do a much better job of staying on track with all my goals, both health and otherwise.
Okay, I'm finally ready to make a resolution. I'm going to try to balance my diet even more than it already is and exercise regularly! No more of this going-in-spurts business!
My goal is to try to watch my diet, drink more water, and exercise.
My Goals ~ to go back to my healthier eating habits (COOK MORE @ HOME) and increase my activities (walk the dog more!)

I started running in 2010. My goal to become more healthy in 2011 is to push my running from 5ks to 10ks. I will also begin this fall training for a half marathon that'll take place in January 2012. With the training, I'll also have to do cross-training. That will be zumba at least once a week, and hopefully Wii one day a week. And ..... eating better. Breakfast is my least favorite meal of the day. I'm not fond of most breakfast foods, but these Jimmy Deans things look pretty tasty. I'll definitely check into them.
My better choice is less money of groceries and still be creative!

I know a better breakfast can make a better day for me...I usually ditch it all together or eat so late that it messes up my eating schedule and metabolism. To better help this, I need to eat MORE throughout the day, Healthy foods...starting with breakfast. I know the "starve" is not good and the whole DIET thing I am SO tired of. With kids in school I don't worry about feeding myself "normal" anymore until dinner. I'd like to get to a point this year that I can be on track, eat like a normal woman again...where food is just FOOD and not an enemy, enjoy it and let be a tool to improve my rotten health. After that, I can work on getting my MOVE on again and stop being a couch slouch. Having chronic illness doesn't mean you should stop working on yourself just because you have been "dealt" a rotten hand...it means you have to work harder and better at keeping healthy!
Hope I can put that thought into action!

After years of resolving to simply eat less to try to lose weight (and never being successful), this year I changed my resolution to add to my diet; specifically more fiber. I know I don’t get enough fiber in my diet, so I’m adding high fiber foods to each meal. It is much easier to keep this resolution, and I actually do feel better physically.

I'm trying so hard to lose this after-baby weight... shes 8 mo old and I've lost 15 lbs and I have 15 more to go! its a daily struggle to make healthy choices and be active. Hard to make enough time in the day, to take care of the baby and get my other little one to (and from) school, plus take care of myself, 2 dogs, the husband the house, but somehow I manage. (Moms do it everyday, but noone tells you how HARD it is! one was easy, two kids, totally diff! Lordy if I had more! ) Lord, grant me the serenity to not freak out over every little tiny mess. My resolution is to lose this weight!~
I am eating healthier and trying hard! .. Wish me luck!!! :)
