This week we are sharing Thanksgiving Dinner & Side Dishes.... it's close people. 10 days. Have you started your menu plan? If you follow my blog, you've noticed my Holiday Planning posts & encouragement to plan your day early. Last minute shopping and stress does not embody the true holiday spirit ;) So, this week is here to help!
My recipe is something I've worked on for several weeks. It's a holiday side, a breakfast spread, a sweet bread topping, a savory meat relish, it's delicious!
Crockpot Cranberry Pomegranate Relish
Remember when I had the POM Pomegranate challenge? Well, there was still a lonely bottle in my fridge begging me to experiment. I couldn't be more pleased with this simple crockpot dish.
- 1 bag fresh cranberries
- 8 oz POM pomegranate juice
- 1 orange
- 1 cup brown sugar
- Pinch cinnamon and nutmeg
- Easy sneezy.... pour cranberries and juice into crockpot. Juice and zest orange; add to crockpot. Sprinkle brown sugar on the top. Add cinnamon and nutmeg.
- Cook 6-8 hours on low. Breath deeply and appreciate the delightful aroma in your kitchen. Remove crockpot lid and cook on high setting for 1 hour; this helps the relish thicken.
- Remove from heat & let cool. Keep refrigerated in airtight container up to 1 week.
Be sure to taste - I love the sweet-tart aspect, but you may feel it needs a hint more sugar, cinnamon and/or nutmeg. I think a little squirt of honey would add interesting depth of flavor.
{Thank you again POM for this wonderful product & opportunity!}

Awesome, Awesome Idea of the crock pot! I used 2 or 3 crock pots for last years Thanksgiving and it free'd up so much time, energy and my stove too! I LOVED IT!
This looks really good!
That sounds great--I like trying different cranberry recipes, especially at the holidays!
Pomegranate juice seems like a perfect compliment to cranberries. I'm sold!
I can't wait to make this. I am bringing the creamed cauliflower and cranberries to Thanksgiving this year. I don't have a crock pot right now could this be made on the stove top or oven? Any suggestions for making it this way?
Thanks for the great recipie, making my mouth water.
God Bless,julie
