I made the bread pudding a little different though - here is the link for Paula Deen's and here is my version :)
Krispy Kreme Bread Pudding
- 1 dozen Krispy Kreme Doughnuts ( I did not have a full dozen, just 10... I have no clue where the other 1 went! ha ha)
- 1 small can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 eggs
Butter Rum Icing
- Rum or rum flavoring, to taste
- 1/4 butter or margarine
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- Cube doughnuts.
See how I have the doughnuts in my baking dish already thinking I could save washing an extra bowl? Um, don't do that. It gets messy later trust me. Put them in a large bowl. You may think you have too much - the cubes become heavier and frankly squishier in the next step and will fit better later!
- Pour sweetened condensed milk over doughnuts and toss lightly to evenly coat the chunks.
In a small bowl whisk eggs, cinnamon and salt; pour over doughnut chunks. Stir until evenly distributed and set aside. {This is when I brought out a bowl, my baking dish was too full to stir. Once they were coated I just pour them back into the dish. } Let set for 10-15 minutes to absorb as much moisture as possible.
- Bake in an oven safe dish at 350 degrees for approx. 30-40 minutes; until slightly crisp on top. You want the bread pudding to be moist, but no raw egg :(
While baking make icing:
- In a microwave safe bowl melt butter. Add rum {I used about a shot of Captain Morgan Spiced Rum in the icing.... and a shot for myself} and stir well. Slowly whisk in powdered sugar working out lumps.
Pour over hot bread pudding. Serve immediately.
This was rich. Richie rich. Indulgent. So sweet I thought "This needs cool whip to cut the sweetness!" Don't worry I didn't... but DH had a big glass of milk to go along and I have to admit that sounded pretty good {I don't drink milk. Just don't like it.} I would definitely make this again.
{Note: Paula Deen's recipe called for 2 dozen donuts, raisins and a can of fruit cocktail. I am anti-fruit-bread-pudding-purist... and using 10 donuts made it soooo moist.}
Head over the Foodie Friday and see what other wonderful recipes are available!

This is the ultimate for me--doughnuts mixed with sweetened condensed milk!! I would probably make myself sick! Thanks,(I think :)
This is truly a rich recipe. Krispy Kremes are delish. I would imagine this is a decadent dessert...I'd have to have a big cold glass of milk, like your hubby.
Come for a visit I'd enjoy the company.
Sweet wishes,
Sara
